Penny Candy books has published The Year of the Buttered Cat! The dual timeline story follows Lexi through the final 24 hours before her second brain surgery, and flashes back to the Year of the Buttered Cat–the year she uncovered what happened to her to leave her with an unmanageable body and without a voice. While some parts of the story are made up, most of it is true.
Lexi and Susan worked together for more than 5 years to get the story right. We hope The Year of The Buttered Cat will shed light on her very preventable condition, and at the same time celebrate the powerful diversity of persons with disabilities.
